Standard and enhanced disclosure checks - New guidelines

New identity checking guidelines that affect standard and enhanced disclosure checks with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) have today formally replaced the previous guidelines set out by the Government.

These changes are intended to bring the checking process into line with right-to-work (RTW) checks which state that employers must prevent illegal working in the UK by carrying out document checks on people before employing them to ensure their eligibility to work.

The changes were first introduced in October 2017, but until today have run in parallel with the older guidelines to allow businesses time to update their processes.
